"Greater things have yet to come and greater things are still to be done is this city!"

News Letter

I have been pastor of the church at Narellan for almost 9 years now and during that time I have been tremendously encouraged by the way God has blessed the work and witness of the church here.

In the past year in particular the Lord has really encouraged us as we have seen the congregation grow steadily, being strengthened still further, spiritually, numerically and financially.

Some of the highlights this year have been:

  • The recent Thanksgiving Service (congregation:175 approx.) and 1People 1Place (congregation 150 approx.) ... Our largest services ever!
  • Youth Fellowship, Girlzone and Sunday School have all gone from strength to strength
  • Financially- our Offerings are greater and more consistent than they have ever been
  • We have reached the $3000 mark for our 5 Cent Coin Donations to the Bible Society
  • We've had approx. 10 people complete the "Church Family Values" course

John 14:12 "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these..."

We realise, of course, that none of this is a cause for "resting on our laurels" and so we prayerfully look forward to the rest of this year with an "Attitude of Gratitude" in our hearts, and focused on the promise of the Lord Jesus in John 14:12

However we understand this promise of Jesus it seems clear to me that the very least we can say is that the Lord wants to raise our level of expectation.

Of course, we often try to lower them and quiet our dreams because we feel that they are too unrealistic or that God wouldn't do something great through people like us. But read through the pages of Scripture and see that God delights to do ...impossible things through improbable people to impart exceeding grace to undeserving recipients {Chip Ingram}.

As even a brief glance at our Church calendar will confirm, we still have so much to look forward to, and so many opportunities for the Lord to do still "Greater Things" in us and through us in 2009- and who knows... maybe... just maybe... in the midst of it all that the Lord could lead and guide so as to provide us with a "home"- a "centre of operations", a "base" that we can use to "Make a Difference" in the lives of the people of Narellan, Camden and Campbelltown for God's glory! May the Lord encourage and help us to stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel (Philippians 1.27).
